An interior antenna distributes the signal to and from a mobile phone, whereas the donor antenna sends and receives signals from the tower. Signals from the tower to the phone as well as signals from the phone to the tower are amplified by the amplifier, also known as a bi-directional amplifier (BDA) or repeater.
