(1) If the twisted pair wiring in the building is too long (the wiring length exceeds 90 meters), a small amount of repeaters can be used to extend the transmission distance of the twisted pair. This is a compromise method, and only a few information points are too long to be considered. If there are a lot of points, it is not suitable to use, because a large number of failure points are added, and management and maintenance are more difficult. In the case of a large number of points, we can consider setting the distribution line to solve it.
(2) Repeaters can be considered for outdoor ultra-long-distance transmission lines. Outdoor ultra-long distances are generally transmitted by optical cables, such as single-mode optical cables and multi-mode optical cables. The transmission distance of single-mode optical cable adopts 1310nm wavelength, and the effective distance is generally 10km. Assuming that our transmission distance reaches 15 kilometers, we can use optical fiber repeaters to relay signals at a suitable position in the middle to achieve the purpose of effective transmission.
